Microsoft Windows users were greeted by the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error, crippling Windows systems worldwide. Hours after causing significant disruptions to businesses and critical services, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella provided an update on the issue, and got a response from X (former Twitter) owner Elon Musk.
“Yesterday, CrowdStrike released an update that began impacting IT systems globally. We are aware of this issue and are working closely with CrowdStrike and across the industry to provide customers technical guidance and support to safely bring their systems back online,” Nadella said in a post on X.
Replying to his post, Musk said, “This gave a seizure to the automotive supply chain.”
Elon Musk reshares old post to take a dig at Microsoft
Earlier in the day, the Tesla CEO shared a meme to take a dig at Microsoft Windows outage. The meme shows a man smoking, while people running in chaos around him.
He also replied to a number of memes and reposted some. Here is a list of them.
Musk also reshared his previous post where he wrote “Macrohard >> Microsoft”. The post was originally shared by him in 2021.
“We just deleted Crowdstrike from all our systems, so no rollouts at all,” he said in a reply to the post.
An update crashed billions of PCs globally
While many users reported being locked out of their computers, some said that their devices repeatedly crashed and restarted. The issue impacted a wide range of sectors, including airlines, banking, broadcasting, and emergency services.
Microsoft acknowledged the problem on its service status page, while cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike attributed the issue to a faulty update that has since been rolled back. However, the exact cause of the global outage remains unclear, with the possibility of multiple factors contributing to the chaos.
