Apple today, i.e September 23, 2024, has acknowledged that some users were experiencing problems with its messaging and video-calling services, iMessage and FaceTime. According to Apple’s official system status page, the issues surfaced shortly after 5 pm IST. The company has updated that the issue has been fixed now.
Affected individuals reported various performance issues, including delays in message delivery and difficulties in initiating or receiving FaceTime calls. The problems seemed to be localised rather than a system-wide failure, as many users continued to access the services without interruption.
Apple’s system status page provided regular updates during the incident, indicating a swift resolution. Social media buzz was minimal, suggesting the problem was minor and quickly addressed. However, Apple did not disclose specific details regarding the cause of this temporary disruption.
In a related news, some iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max users have also raised concerns about unresponsive screens on their new devices. Many are frustrated, as these devices are experiencing display lags and occasional failures to register taps and swipes. Early indications suggest that the touchscreen responsiveness issues are likely software-related rather than hardware defects. This means that instead of recalling affected devices, a simple software update could fix the situation and restore functionality for those experiencing touchscreen lag.
Some users reported that their touches were being ignored when their fingers were near the new Camera Control on the display’s right side. Additionally, the new, thinner bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro may contribute to the problem, as they provide less protection against accidental touches, potentially leading the device to reject legitimate inputs.
“I seem to be having touch screen issues with my new iPhone 16 Pro Max. Sometimes the key touches aren’t recognised & in general the sensitivity and response to typing just doesn’t seem to up to the usual standard and speed. I’ve swapped to my old iPhone 13PM and you can definitely tell/feel the difference. I’ve tried a reboot, removing screen protectors & cases but nothing is seeming to help,” a user wrote on Apple’s community page.
