Google always offers free meals to all its employees. The company CEO Sundar Pichai has revealed why that is important in an interview on The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations. “It sparks creativity and builds community,” Pichai stated, sharing how many of his early ideas at Google emerged from casual chats in the company’s cafés. “The benefits far outweigh the costs,” he remarked.
He also revealed some of the key skills that the tech giant is looking for in a job candidate. He stated that the company is looking for ‘superstar software engineers’ who are not just technically skilled but also have a strong desire to learn and evolve.
He said, “People aspiring to work at the search giant in an area like engineering need to be not only excellent but also willing to learn, grow, and adapt to new situations.”
Google continues to be a leading destination for talent. As of June 2024, with more than 1,79,000 employees, Pichai noted that nearly 90% of those offered a position choose to accept the job.
Google offers a wide range of benefits to its employees, including comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), wellness programs, and on-site fitness centers. Financial perks consist of competitive salaries, retirement plans, stock options, and financial planning services.
To promote work-life balance, the company provides flexible work hours, remote work options, and generous paid time off, including vacation days, holidays, and parental leave. Additionally, Google supports professional growth through training programs, tuition reimbursement, and clear career advancement pathways.
